A crisp navy uniform, a cap pulled down low, a baton and handcuffs at the hip. The figure of a policewoman walking the pavement with brisk steps carries a peculiar mix of authority and ornamentation that can make an ordinary passer-by stop short. To be stopped and questioned, interrogated, handcuffed; or, conversely, to seize the cuffs and tie her up instead. The perverse fantasy runs both directions.
